Kevin Hawkins, AMFT

I view therapy as a collaborative process in which I serve as a guide and teacher. I strive to create a calm, nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable expressing yourself without shame and begin to look at your experiences from a new perspective. My background in storytelling through film and television has informed my Narrative-Focused approach to therapy. Through conversation and writing exercises, we will explore the stories you have developed about yourself and your relationships and begin creating a new narrative for your future.

During my work with Kaiser Permanente, I worked with individuals coping with chronic pain, survivors of domestic abuse, and couples experiencing difficulties in their marriages and relationships. When working with chronic pain, I work with clients on helping to build a meaningful life alongside their pain rather than allowing pain to define them. For clients recovering from abusive relationships, I provide a safe, supportive space to process trauma in a way that fits their individual experience. With couples struggling with relationship dynamics or communication, we'll explore attachment styles, build emotional literacy, identify negative cycles and work together toward solutions.

Whether you are facing a difficult transition in life or trying to make sense of the experiences that have shaped who you are, therapy can offer an opportunity to pause and consider what comes next. Together, we can explore the parts of your life that may have been overlooked, recognize the strengths and values that have carried you through, and consider new ways of moving forward. My hope is that you leave our work together with a greater sense of clarity, self-understanding, and confidence in your ability to face whatever comes next.
